Didn’t go too well for me. I guess not terrible but just a lot of wasted effort for something not so big. Me and Ted worked on my car for the whole week prior to the event to get everything ready, it was in great shape. We left the house at about 6 am and hit terrible rain/fog in monument that we lost maybe a half an hour at best. But still early at the event. It was freezing out there we were unloading the car in wet conditions with like 30 degree temperatures. While unloading I got stuck on my downpipe on the trailer. This has never happened before, we had to stack 2x4s up everywhere then jack the front up to get it down. Unloading took roughly 4 people and an hour of time. It’s terrifying when you are the one inside the car not being able to see anything. Once the car was unloaded I noticed I couldn’t turn my steering wheel more than a half turn. I figured maybe a block got stuck somewhere, checked it all out and it turned out fine. Brad took a peek and we came up to the conclusion my steering rack went out. Made perfect sense. But since it wasn’t leaking I was going to give it a shot. Went out for the parade lap and couldn’t turn, at all. Limped my way back. We found the downpipe bent closer and was not letting my steering shaft move where that U bolt section is. Brad helped dent in my downpipe so I would have proper clearance with a jack handle and a hammer(THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!) Once we had a good clearance we tested it out, it was good but suddenly my power steering went out. Looked under and big puddle. One of the seals went out, so need new rack. No driving for me at the event. It was still a fun time there just hanging out and taking a couple ride-alongs.
Here’s a picture I snapped before getting ready to load up, you can see the cleaned up puddle of atf directly in front of me haha.
Thank you Ted, Brad and Craig for all your help this week and this weekend!!!!
